Welcome and Revised Student Guide/Assignments

Greetings class!
I really look forward to seeing some of you again, and meeting those of you that will be new to me.
I think you will be surprised how much you enjoy this class; I sure enjoy teaching it.

I will use this website to post links and videos that we watch in class; there will be a new post after each class session with a summary of the session, and any follow-up information.

By now you have all gotten the news that the first class session is Sept 27, not Sept 20.
 Class Schedule:

Week 1: Sept 27
Week 2: Oct 4
Week 3 Oct 11
Week4  Oct 18

As promised, here are the changes to your syllabus (revised homework/assignment schedule  etc), below.

The best way to prepare right away is   is to do the homework/reading listed on your syllabus for Week 1  as if it were due the original first session of class (Sept 20), even though it is now due on our first class session, Sept 27.

MAKE THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO YOUR STUDENT GUIDE/SYLLABUS (everything else is as printed):

Page 1:

1)Cross out ":recommended texts"  and the texts listed there.

Page 2:

1)Under  "Course Polices: Written assignments,"  I will NOT require  MLA format.  For me, APA, or another format is fine (just be consistent)

2)Under "Grading," cross out "Ford Chapter Paper" and "Dark Side Paper".  You do NOT have to do these assignments (though you are still to read the "Dark Side" book).  Make a note that instead of these papers, you will receive up to the same amount of points for in-class projects we will be doing.

Page   3:

1)Under "Week 1", make a note that this is now Sept 27 (not Sept 20)

2)Under "Week 2,"   make a note that this is now Oct 4.

3)Under "Week 2," delete all reading assignments EXCEPT "How to Read the Bible for all its Worth – chapter 12"  That includes the Strengths Assessment survey (delete, we will do a version of this IN CLASS)

Page 5:

1)Delete altogether everything under where it currently says "Week 4: Determining Direction"
(Since we are cutting a week off class.  We will incorporate the topics from that night elsewhere.
But you will NOT have to do the paper or reading assignments listed there)

2)  Under "Week 3: The Person of the Leader, note that the date is October 11,  under "Writing Asssignments," add that a power point or video is accepted as an alternative to the written paper.
A video would be great, as you are interviewing people.

Page 6:

1)Where it says, "Week 5" change it to say "Week 4 (Final Week)", and note that the date is Oct 18.

2)Then, under where you have written "Week 4-Final Week" (changed from Week 5),
delete the Written Assignment (you will NOT have to do that paper) .
From   "Reading Assignments," delete the Robert Clinton article.

Page 7-27:

1)As you read above (under page 6), you will NOT have to do the assignment on this article, though it would be helpful to read it.
